Hippy

Hippies arose in the US in the mid 1960s and it was considered a youth movement at that time. The word hippy actually comes from "hipster" which was used to describe beatnicks who had moved to New York. Typically those involved would listen to psychedelic music, experimented with then legal drugs like LSD and marijuana and embraced the sexual revolution of the 60s. 1969 hosted the infamous Woodstock Festival on the east coast of America.

Despite the fact society has changed a lot since then it can be argued that hippies influenced today's society with things such as healthy eating and music festivals.
