Soul Boy

On the other hand, soul boys were working class English men and women, from the late seventies and early eighties, who enjoyed American funk and soul music. It began in North-West England, a typically working class area, and was an alternative to what was the sixties Northern Soul scene. The new romantics were a subculture that emerged in the eighties when the soul boys were at their peak, however the difference in class meant that New romantics got far more press coverage than the soul boys did.
