Nu Rave

Nu Rave is very much a music based term, and bands such as Klaxons and Late of the Pier fall under this category. It arrived between the years of 2005 and 2008, and was largely pushed by the media and music magazines, not just word of mouth. Essentially it was the same idea as the original rave scene, using glowsticks and UV paint and dancing to electronic music, however there wasn't the same idea that these underground raves were a way to escape from the society at that time, as it was during the years of that the young generation were considered apathetic as they had nothing to fight for.

Klaxons claim that the whole idea was a joke, to play with the media; and NME are blamed for carrying the joke on.
